Mahmoud Aburomi founded Romis Farm Products in 1989. Mahmoud came to America in 1978 from Palestine, his home and birthplace. Mahmoud had no previous experience in making cheese, yogurts, or Labaneh. He had gotten a recipe from one of the older women of the family to make homemade cheese to enjoy at home because these Middle Eastern cheeses were not widely available at the time. Mahmoud and his family were amazed at how wonderfully the cheese had turned out.
He decided to make more so that his friend, who owned one of the very few Middle Eastern grocery stores in Paterson, New Jersey, could try it out. The store owner loved the cheese Mahmoud had made and asked him if he could make more for him to sell in his store. The cheese was a huge success, and the store owner could not keep up with the demand for the delightful cheese. It was only a few weeks before the neighboring stores began to call Mahmoud at home, asking if he could make cheese for them as well.
Since then, cheeses and other magnificent products are still made with the best ingredients, attention, and care, as it was from the beginning. We at Romis’s Farm Products believe the consistency of attentive service has been the key to our success for all these years and for the years to come.
